On the 29th of April 2026, BNTAC’s Caring for Country team attended Tractor Ticket Training as part of their ongoing skills development.
The day began with a safety briefing covering safe machine operation, hazard identification, and correct procedures when working with heavy machinery. Emphasis was placed on safe work practices, awareness of surroundings, and correct handling of implements.
Participants, including Sam, Gareth, and Kyle, then progressed into practical training on the tractor. Training included use of common tractor implements such as slasher and bucket attachments. Each participant gained hands-on experience operating the tractor, including start-up and shut-down procedures, steering control, reversing with attachments, and basic field operation techniques.
Focus was placed on safely attaching and operating implements, particularly the slasher for vegetation control and the bucket for basic loading and material handling tasks. Trainers provided guidance throughout to ensure correct technique and safe operation.
By the end of the session, all participants had successfully completed the required practical tasks and demonstrated improved confidence and understanding of tractor operations and implements. The training was completed safely and successfully, supporting future fieldwork capability.
