About the role:
The Board of the Butchulla Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (BNTAC) is seeking a high-calibre General Manager to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth, governance maturity, and cultural stewardship across Butchulla Country (land, sea and sky).
This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for organisational performance, financial sustainability, governance integrity, and delivery of programs, contracts, and services aligned with Native Title rights and community priorities.

Position Overview:
• Classification: SCHADS Award 2010 – Level 7, Pay Point 1
• Employment Type: Full-Time (38 hrs/week)
• Contract Term: 12 months (1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027, extension subject to Board approval)
• Location: Hervey Bay, QLD (with work across Butchulla Country)
• Reporting To: Board of Directors via Chairperson and Contact Officer

Role Purpose:
Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure effective delivery of BNTAC’s programs, contracts, and services while strengthening governance, protecting Native Title rights, and supporting long-term organisational sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead implementation of BNTAC’s strategic and operational plans
• Oversee financial performance, budgeting, funding, and resource allocation
• Ensure effective delivery of programs, contracts, and services
• Maintain governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks
• Build and manage stakeholder, government, and partner relationships
• Lead workforce performance, culture, and capability development
• Drive innovation, systems improvement, and organisational growth

Key Selection Criteria:
Essential
• Senior leadership experience in community, not-for-profit, or related sectors
• Strong financial management and funding acquisition capability
• Demonstrated governance, compliance, and risk management expertise
• Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex programs or contracts
• High-level stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
• Experience working with Boards and supporting strategic decision-making
Desirable
• Experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations or Native Title sector
• Knowledge of government funding frameworks and compliance requirements
• Experience managing cross-sector partnerships
