Cultural Heritage Assessments on Country
Managing significant sites on Country (land, sea and sky)
Cultural Heritage Assessments on Country are a fundamental aspect of our commitment to preserving and protecting the rich cultural heritage of Butchulla Country. These assessments serve as a vital tool to identify and safeguard our sacred sites, artifacts, and historical significance. Through thorough investigations and community engagement, we work to ensure that our cultural treasures are honoured and preserved for future generations. These assessments are not only a way to maintain our traditions but also a means to share our cultural significance with a broader audience, enabling respect and understanding of Butchulla heritage.

Currently, BNTAC has engaged the services of Archaeo to assist in the assessment of cultural heritage aspects on Country. Cultural Heritage Monitors works in partnership with the local business to undertake site inspections/monitoring using a cultural lens as part of the assessment practice and protocols at each location. Following each assessment a report is provided to BNTAC and proponents with regard to potential impacts on development work or future acts.
